Fetish 11 of Phil
What do you do in daily life?
I work as a project manager and design engineer in the noise prevention and protection industry.
What got you into latex?
The first thing I remember being drawn to were my grandmothers old rubber household gloves, the really sturdy transparent ones that were almost impossible to destroy; I must’ve been around 5 or 6 then. After developing an interest for the material everything remotely rubbery became interesting to me and so every bit of media showcasing any bit of latex was only adding to the addiction.
The first heavy hit, amongst countless other smaller ones, was the “Destiny’s Child – Say My Name” video in February 2000 and that happened right on the verge of puberty with me being 11 at the time. The point of no return was then definitely Liberty X’s music video to “Just A Little” roughly two years later and me already having access to the internet did the final trick (latex.at and latexcult.de for example).
How long have you been into latex?
I would say I’ve been into the material for over twenty years – experimenting with balloons, gloves condoms etc., but I bought my first own piece of latex clothing when I was 16 (snuck into a sex shop boldly pretending to be old enough with not having shaved for two weeks and buying a pair of moulded gloves and a latex sauna bag to climb into) which was almost exactly 20 years ago.
How often do you rubber up?
This has changed a lot over the years to be honest, ranging from multiple times a week to once a month or even less. When life gets busy, I at least try to dress up for parties here and there. I don’t like to stress myself out these days just to wear some and I learned to enjoy it more when a suitable time frame arises sort of naturally.
Talc or lube?
I use lube as dressing aid, talc exclusively for glueing and repairing and storagewise I’ve been using ArmorAll for more than a decade now, after the owners of Simon O. and I had a long chat about their years of experience with it, what positive effects it has for long-term storage and how nicely you can shine up garments for a shoot without having them looking all greasy.
Who knows about it?
Simply put, everyone who gets to know me. My family knows since puberty, my friends do so too, new friends learn about it as casually as can be, and I’ve been open about it at workplaces and jobs since my apprenticeship because back then I needed our company A0 plotter for pattern making and the huge, ventilated bathroom for chlorinating garments. I was lucky to never have had any kind of really bad experience, so I just kept going and I very much like the side effect of de-stigmatising it for many people around me so far. I even got to make some outfits for promotional events for the first company I’ve worked for.
How do people react to it?
Most of the time people react relaxed and respectful; some are cool about it, others are put off at first, but the majority of reactions is positive and interested.
First and last item you bought?
The first items were said moulded gloves together with a climb-in sauna bag – the last items I purchased were toe socks from UniqDsn.
Your favourite item or outfit?
My favourite outfit now is my red and black Libidex neck entry catsuit together with some heavy rubber wrist and ankle straps as accessories and my Alpha Ranger boots – my favourite single item is my vest from Savage Wear though.
The other favourite item, a mtm neck entry suit by LatexSkin, sadly had to retire after 10+ years of heavy usage and is still dwelling in the graveyard waiting for me to build up the courage to cut it up and copy the pattern.
What or how does your fetish add to your life?
That’s a tough one to answer and I’d like to put it the other way round.
I can’t imagine a life without my fetish, and it has been this way for as long as I can remember. Of course, there were relationships where latex had much less priority or was hindering even, and my involvement in the fetish and latex scene and my lifestyle around it had much to do with the last big break-up, but I wouldn’t want to give it up because it simply is a vital part of me.
It gives me the feeling of being whole and my true self, and I consider myself more than fortunate to be able to just indulge in my fetish and live it out as openly and freely as I want to (while taking care to not be stepping on anyone’s toes and without displaying any form of sexually explicit behaviour in public).
What are your other hobbies?
Other hobbies vary from time to time, but the most consistent ones I’ve been following for years are probably cars and strength training. I also like to go out and party, dance, socialise with friends etc., but I wouldn’t consider things like these a hobby; that’s more like a lifestyle to me. Being outdoors is a huge part of my life too and I love being out in the woods where no signs of civilisation can be heard or seen.
